Realisticly, you'd need to go in with at least £2000. There's various courses to start you off, static line, Accelarated Free Fall etc. Either way, you need about 25-30 jumps to get a licence, and its better to do it all in a couple of weeks.
Its actually a lot safer to do more in a short time, rather than spreading it out over weeks or months, because you don't forget important things (its easier on the nerves too
).After that you need to think about buying gear - anywhere between £1000 and £6000+ depending on whether you get second hand or new stuff. Thats where I'm at now - its a little less painfull than it sounds, because the more time i put into this, the less I spend on other things, like drinking, pc gear etc.
Like I said, if you're interested, speak to someone who knows what they're talking about, I'm too new at this.
