whats your budget, whats the system going to be used for ?

also, any particular reason your going for a shuttle/barebones for ?

Be used for gaming, and accounts!

It's my dads new pc, the old one 'has gone funny'. I'm going back at the weekend to build it.

Its a shuttle to replace the old shuttle (sb61g2). They like the compactness.
 
Out of interest, what does 'gone funny' mean? Can you not use some parts from that one to save money?

Also that CD drive is really noisy! There is an LG around the same price which is much quieter apparently

Id love to repeat the 1 hour he spent explaining all the problems, but basically it seems like its pretty much on the way out. Random lock ups, won't boot at times.

It is 6 years old, nothing really worth salvaging for a new build. Its got a northwood cpu and ddr1, a 120 gig hard drive and a 6800 AGP graphics card....

oh you know it! it even has an annoying fan whhirrring sound that changes pitch every 5 seconds.
