Hey guys recently decided to buy a new PC as at the moment my PC is unable to run Bad Company 2. I will also be playing a lot of CSS and WoW on this PC. This is only the second PC I will be building myself and the first was about 4 years ago so I'm not really in the loop on whats good or not. I have a budget of £500 give or take £30 and so far I came up with this:

If you guys can find anything im missing or better parts for a similar price it would be awesome, or even better if you guys could spec me a PC preferably Intel/Nvidia but I wouldnt mind an ATI.

Thanks

you can afford to drop down to a 500W PSU, and Id also lower the CPU to the 530, use that extra cash to squeeze in an ATI 5770, will be much better overall

Sound advice. You lose very little gaming grunt by taking the cheaper i3 530 processor and gain a lot from the HD5770.

Also at your pricepoint it might be worth considering an AM3 + Athlon II/Phenom II mobo and CPU. The i3 has an integrated graphics chip that you won't be using but will be paying for and you can get 1 or 2 extra physical cores too (more than 2 physical cores is less important for games but newer games, BFBC2 included are starting to be truly multithreaded)

for example this mobo:

and this CPU:

At the end of the day if you're primarily gaming it's the GPU that will determine performance, especially at higher resolutions, so squeezing in an HD5770 should be a priority.

Yes I agree the AMD route at that price point is best.

AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 955 Black Edition 3.20GHz (Socket AM3) - Retail
Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
G.Skill Ripjaw 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (F3-12800CL8D-4GBRM)
Asus M4A79XTD Evo (Socket AM3) DDR3 Motherboard
Western Digital Caviar Black 640GB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (WD6402AAEX)
OcUK 650W Dual-Rail High Efficiency Power Supply
Coolermaster Elite 335 Case - Black
Xilence XPF120R Red Wing 120mm Quiet Fan

Total £596.77

To me it would be worth saving a couple extra quid and going for this? Although as per above post could save £40 going for the:
AMD Athlon II X4 Quad Core 635 2.90GHz (Socket AM3) - Retail

Id go for that.
While Intel are good and there i3's a damned good, this would be miles better for gaming, not to mention a lot more futureproof
