This is for a mate, he wants it cheep as possible.
I already have a case, graphics card and cd drive I can sort out for him

he wont be playing games and stuff, he just wants a rig that will last for a while, is it all compatible?

What do you think?

thanks guys!;)

I'd maybe just opt for the OcUK PC6400 and save a few quid.
I'm not sure what current Maxtors are like, in the past I'd have avoided like the plague but I've not had any problems with them lately.

ok i will look at changing the hard drive, and ram

and as for that power supply i have exatly the same one and its not skipped a beat

thanks guys :)

Maxtor are Seagate now, every hard drive I've owned has been a Maxtor, 1 or 2 have failed within their warranty, but mostly no probs with them for the last 6 or 7 years for me.

It is all compatible and should even overclock decently enough. I'm not convinced that Maxtor are all bad, it seems that if you get a decent one then it will usually last but they did have what seemed like a higher than average failure rate a couple of years back.

I've always used maxtor drives. I had one 120gig go wrong in all the time I've used them. In fact I have two 40gig models still going and they are 5+ years old.

I am not fussed about it overclocking, he just needs a alright computer, i went and changed the RAM to OCuk stuff and got a samsung 250gb drive, just got to show him tomrrow and see what he says
