Prices are without VAT my budget is £1100-£1200. I thought about AMD2 but from what i've read there dosent seem to be enough benefits with AMD2 and when I upgrade next year I wil probably go with conroe instead.

I have some Corsair XMS PC3200 CL2 stuff in 2 x 1Gb. It is excellent stuff - seriously :p. It's slightly more than what you have there though.

However, GeIL value is also excellent and people have got some amazing clocks out of it. If it was between the value kits, then I would stay with the GeIL.

It's up to you tbh.

All good. Although I would go for an X1900XT. Theyre better faster cards and theyre also cheaper. In fact, this one is in This Week Only at £210 ex VAT

Connect3D ATI Radeon X1900 XT 512MB GDDR3 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (3056) (GX-047-CO)

Get a 3800+ X2 to save the money and 2x250gb Samsung spinpoints. They are the same price and mine is excellent (very quiet, fast) plus you get 100gb extra storage.

Also get G.Skill ddr500 ram, will be better for OCing and you can just fit it in your budget with the 3800+x2

It has half the cache and is 200mhz slower but it overclocks well, at best it is 8-10% slower at worst it is about 18-20% slower at stock. But not many things use the cache to a large extent.

Would it not be better going for a cheaper case and lower power supply to save the extra £40-£50 and gain the extra performance

Hiper HPU-4M580 Type R 580W ATX2.2 PSU - Black (CA-009-HP)
Price: £44.95 (£52.82 Including VAT at 17.5%)

Antec Super LANBOY Aluminum Super Mini Tower Case - No PSU (CA-012-AN)
Price: £28.75 (£33.78 Including VAT at 17.5%)

Wouldnt go any lower than that

will I still get great performance from the system and is everything still compatable including 120mm fans for case

Yep, you could even leave the akasa ambers out and get a better PSU. The ones that come with this case are pretty good and just about silent at 7v.

I would stick with everything in your first post as I'm sure you had good reason for choosing the CPU, case and PSU etc and to reduce it by £40 or so remove one of the hard drives. Later on you could purchase an additional hard drive.

What about this

Western Digital Caviar SE16 320GB 3200KS SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (HD-070-WD)

It will save me £35 and still have large storage I was origianlly going with this drive in the first pace but was advised to go with 2x200 gig as they are more reliable is this true.
