Hi there, i didnt intend to go over £1000 but nevermind, heres my final spec, i was just hoping if you could make sure its all good for me, instead of the IFX14 cooler and the 2 fans i was thinking of just getting the tuniq tower, but want to clock that quad as high as i can. Cant really jusitfy spend that much on a cooler.

The total cost with the tuniq tower is £1,099.62. :)

I already have

Logitech multimedia keyboard
Logitech G7 carbon mouse
Logitech Z5500 5.1 speakers
2x 160g SataII harddrives

Heres my spec:

Think 1200RPM fans should do. 1600RPM might be a bit loud ;)

Aside from the Raptor & cooler, everything else looks good :)

Looks good but drop the raptor for the Western Digital AAKS (500/750GB) also drop the IFX14 for the Ultra 120 Extreme, they pretty much perform the same :)

Other than that absolutely stonking spec :D you going to buy some Arctic Silver or go with the thermal paste with the Thermalright?

Also theres knack to applying thermal paste to dual cores, I did it how Arctic Silver said and basically put a small line of paste lengthways down where the cores are situated underneath the heatspreader, then by twisting the heatsink once it was on. Dunno if it's still the same method for quad cores, I can't imagine it being much different, but I found that the previous pea sized blob didn't wrk as well as the line of paste.

Ive just looked at that 750GB drive and its on par with the 150gig raptor apprently! Seems like there getting faster and raptor drives arnt living up to thier name. For the meantime ill take it off the list. I only have 70GB of data on 1 hardrive and i have 2x160 - 320GB in total. I have no need for other harddrives, let alone big ones. Thats why the raptor was in my spec. What about if i got the 74GB raptor for O/S and games?

Also gone for the Ultra 120 Extreme and 1 of the scythe 1600RPM fans, there not loud are they?

Thanks for the advice vader ive got artic silver yes and ill make sure ill do the line instead of the blob, but ill check instructions :)

Total cost now is £991.52

Thanks so far, Carl :)

Ah yeah, apprently 320MB is plenty for my resolution, i can afford a GTX but dont see the need for it, im waiting for UT3.

What do you think? Is it worth the extra moneys?

If your going to be keeping the card for long term get the GTS640.

I wouldent say that the 8800GTS 320 is plenty for that res, it will struggle.

And you dont really need the G15 unless you're an Avid WOW gamer that needs a load of macro keys.

I have the media keyboard and find it fine for gaming, for that money you could fit a 8800GTX in... dont be afraid to shop around.

I went with the scythe 1600rpm fan on my Ultra 120 Extreme also :) they're not that loud really :) but they work really well.

Theres been a lot of progress on the spec!

a lot of people have advised me to get the GTS640 or GTX if its more longterm, so i thought sod it and went for the GTX.

Its well within my bugdet if i take off the Logitech G15 keyboard. I dont need all the macros, id just like a keyboard that lights up, what about the saitek keyboards?

Also im going to stick with the 1600rpm fan

So what do you think to the new spec? Will it play UT3?

Sub Total: £883.91
Shipping: £12.95
VAT: £156.95
Total: £1,053.81

Thanks Carl :)

No it wont, their gonna release it so it cant run on a Quad Core, GTX Setup

Ofcourse its gonna run UT3, nice setup, hf

Thats the main objective here! Thanks mate

Case, monitor, GTX and a quad core for £1k. That's a damn good spec for that price.

Im really happy with the spec at the moment, hopefully this will last me another 4 years as my current self build rig is 4 years old!

Anymore alterations? Thanks in advance :)
