Hello this is the spec to my new gaming rig. The only thing not included in this list is the gc as I am waiting for the 5870 to be released. Do you think I can improve on this I have a budget of £1000 and a seperate £300 for the gc.

I'm no expert but I reckon you should go intel i5. Also, £1000 is a massive budget and way to much (this is what I have learned from the forum)...

Also, as a bit of help for other posters, are you going to overclock?
 
I've heard Crucial SSDs are a bit temperamental. Maybe go with a Samsung - they have a higher read speed than the crucial (which is what you'll be using for gaming), reliable and few quid cheaper. But that's just personal preference.
 
At that budget you should definetelt get an i5/i7 build
i5 if you want the extra cash for SSD's
 
I'd say go for the Phenom II IF you don't plan on overclocking the CPU heavily, I went with a phenom myself when I bought my new rig. Also, if you can wait, I'd advice you to get a cheap 4870 instead of 5870 as the prices are most likely to fall by quite a bit over the next few weeks.:)
