have you thought about looking at amd (something like a Phenom II Dual Core) ?

aside from that what you spec'd looks fine, maybe think about a cooler for the processor if the retail one proves to be a little too noisy.

do you have a gfx card ?

I don't have a gfx card, was going to use the chip display.
I always been an intel man really. Any benfit of getting the AMD?
Which CPU Cooler would you recommend?

Thanks for your points

Tom

long as the onboard is sufficient to run the sort of detail you want, from what i've seen in the home cinema forum they can struggle with certain quality.

also seen in an old article (jan 2011) a mention that the playback can be slightly juddery with the i3/on board graphics, but it does say that it might not even be noticeable, but if it is than it can be sorted by using a graphics card.

doesn't appear to be much difference between intel/amd, mostly just depends on price/preference.

cooler wise i'd check out what the supplied cooler is like first then if it infringes on your viewing maybe look at something like the Scythe Shuriken Rev.B Quiet Low Profile.
