Hey everyone! First post, woo!
So for about a year now i've been using a laptop for everything, i moved to uni and just before i left my old pc fell over so i chucked it (it was very old). For a while the laptop has been fine for doing programming, web design, graphic design etc... But now i have decided to get a new computer for gaming and 3d rendering, and i wanted to get something rather nice...
I ended up going with the following components:
Intel C2D E6600
Asus P5B-E Plus
EVGA 8800 GTS 640MB
G.Skill 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2-800 @ 4-4-4-12
Western Digital SE16 SATAII 500GB HDD
Lian-Li PC-7B Plus
Enermax Liberty 500w Modular PSU
Samsung 18x18 SATA DVD-RW
I think ive got a pretty solid system here and (i hope) its rather future proof
... i would really appreciate your input (although i have already bought all the parts).
The things i do want to say so it doesnt get commented on are:
1) Yes you may think that case is boring... I'm a minimalist
2) I didn't go with SLI because if i did i would've had to go with the 320MB version of the 8800. Which would mean i would have 2x 320's when i upgraded to sli, which as we all know runs off the first card's FSB and isnt really worth it compared to 1 640 card.
I was a bit out of touch with new hardware, but i think ive done pretty well.
Comments are very much appreciated.
Regards.
