What you think?

Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.33GHz old tech
Maxtor Diamondmax prone to failure, a nice samsung drive would be a wiser choice
BFG GeForce 8800 GTS OC 640MB GDDR3 old tech, not as good as an 8800GT, but personally I'd get neither for now, and wait a month until the new cards are out

I dont wana go over the prices of what ive got, i originally said 400-500 but to be honest, for what i want that price is more realistic..

Can you help the search for better at the same price? Im pretty noobish now, aint done this in years lol.

I don't understand why you want 2 HDDs though still.

One for personal data, pics, files, games like css, bf2, quake 4 insted of saving them to the other HD.

whilst the main HD holds the os and all the things i install. I dont like partitioning so this is easier.

Deal of the weeks wont really do me tbh as im buying weekly over 3-4 weeks..

4gb of DDR2 isn't really an investment, it's not long before DDR3 is the one everyone uses. It is worth using 4gb though, even though you are on a 32 bit OS, and so it won't see all of it.

I do think that it's a better idea to get 800mhz RAM though, it'd be worth the pennies.

Meh, depends how much more to be honest, i mean 700 is a lot of money, its going to take my wage every week for a few weeks lol atleast 4.

580 to get it up and running, 120 there after, thats without the little extras ill want..

4gb will make my system run without any bloody issues compared to my laptop!!! I cant stand waiting around, i move around the comp too fast for that..

What you recon to this? I actually think its crap due to the price/make..

out of stock =(

but I havn't heard much bad about Gskill

Wont be purchased for a while anyway so theyll be in stock when i get them hopefully.

Might just go for it..

Or shall i go for this "Corsair 4GB 2 x 2GB PC5300 667MHZ DDR2 Value PC Memory" which i can get cheeper.

Hmm fair enough. To be perfectly honest I know very little about RAM. It may be worth taking a trip to the RAM dedicated forum.

If your gonna run XP 4GB ram causes nothing but problems, plus XP can only see 2/2.5/3GB depending on your board.

If you really want to get 4GB then its no big deal, just leave one stick out of your PC and use it when you go to Vista/64bit OS. 2GB really works just fine with XP , just setup your page file well to give you that extra breathing room.

Btw , so that you dont have any problems with your build, have the newest BIOS drivers at hand and on a flash drive/floppy and install it before XP. So that your mobo will correctly see your CPU.

Cheers lads, all taken on!

if you mean to post it twice (ie 4x1gb), change it to 2x2gb, corsair is about £70.

Money wise its easier the way im doing it, im gonna buy 1x2gb to start with and then buy another 2gb once i have everything for the comp and its up and running, then ill add the extra ram, hdd, dvdrw, mce remote fans etc.

What fans shall i get if i get the Antec 300 case.

Im gonna run MCE not XP Pro, ill get the 2x2gb sticks then if theres gonna be a big diff..

Is there such a thing as MCE 64? I aint heard of such a thing, just wondering if its hovering around.

I dont like partitioning at all, i dont like the process of it i never have done, plus i find it better and safer just to have one drive as a backup.

I remer doing this ages ago, it changes so much towards the end, getting excited now.
