Looking for thoughts and suggestions on my next build please all:

Asus P6T Intel X58 (Socket 1366) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard £174.98
Coolermaster RC-1100 Cosmos S "Sport" Silent Full Tower Case - Black £169.99
Corsair XMS3 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 (1600MHz) Tri-Channel (TR3X6G1600C8) £126.99
Intel Core i7 920 D0 Stepping (SLBEJ) 2.66Ghz (Nehalem) (Socket LGA1366) - OEM £199.99
Corsair HX 750W ATX Modular SLI Compliant Power Supply (CMPSU-750HXUK) £109.99
Prolimatech Megahalems Performance CPU Cooler (Socket 775/1366) £49.99
Akasa AK-FN057 Apache Super Silent 120mm Fan - 4 Pin PWM X 2 £28
Akasa AK-CB002 PWM Fan Splitter Cable £3.50
Intel X25-M Mainstream 160GB 2.5" SATA-II Solid State Hard Drive (SSDSA2MH160G2C1) £339.99
HIS ATI Radeon HD 5970 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £519.98

Total: £1,770

Few questions:

1. Im feeling very tempted by the beastly 5970, would I need to be gaming at 2,560x1,600 to take full advantage of it? As I was planning on opting for a 24" screen which only go upto 1920x1200.

2. Is the 750W Corsair sufficient or should I go for the 850?

3. What is the best i7 air cpu cooler? I cant be arsed with water cooling.

Thanks Guys!

Looks great mate, I would personally go for the ATCS 840 over the cosmos,Will you not need another hdd??, either 5870 or 5970 will be fine bit if you can afford it by all means get the 5970,I would say get a corsair h50 or meghalems, the 750 will be fine but if you want some more room then get a 850w and finally will you not need windows? Also I'm assuming your just gonnabe gaming and if so just get a i5 setup ;)

Spec looks good, 750w will be more than enough, I run a 750w in my overclocked i7 with a 4870x2 which is more power hungry than the 5890.

I would choose this memory. Probably won't see much actual difference but it is only £9 more for tighter timings so maybe able to push it a little further.

Agreed about the i5! It's better for gaming than the i7 is, thanks to the lack of hyperthreading on the i5.

Can't say I know anything about either the Cosmos or the ATCS, but I know my Coolermaster Scout is fantastic. Fits my GTX260 with room to spare! (albeit not much)

Also, it fits a TRUE as long as you don't mind not being able to use one of the side panel fans. (There's space for 2)

750W power supply will be enough, but if you want to add anything in future, you'd be safer with an 850.

Make sure you remember to get 64-bit Win7! 32-bit will cripple that machine.

I just love the looks of the cosmos s, plus I hear the 5970 is huge, and I know for a fact it fits in the cosmos. Is there some major flaw I should know about regarding the cosmos s? As for HD space, yea I have some spare HDDs lying around :)

Consider the Noctua NH-D14

I will look into it, though I have just been looking at the meghalems, that thing looks mighty impressive, will the NH-D14 compete?

I would choose this memory

Noted, I will change to that, thanks.

This really suprises me, is this still true with the i7 clocked close to 4ghz? It wont just be for gaming, getting the i5 seems inferior?

Of course :) I already have a copy from when it was cheaper prior to release.

I have edited the main post to show revised specs, any thoughts from anyone? Thanks all!

Ok, I have added two of those and a PWM cable splitter. Does the megahalems come with clips to attach the fans, or are they extra too? Thanks for the heads up, any other thoughts?

Getting the I5 is not inferior, its saving a lot of money for yourself and it does perform better in some areas then the I7. Sometimes just throwing money into the wind does not get you a s***hot setup , but it certainly helps ^^

When I bought one a few weeks ago I had to order a second set of fan clips, presumably mine was not the new revision. The price went up a bit soon after I ordered, so I'm guessing they got the new revision in around then?
