Check my spec! Can you please help

I am building a rig that will need to be able to play games such as battle for middle earth 2 and maybe battlefield 2. Will this work and do you have any other ideas? The maximum price is £450. Thankyou very much

no chance of running BF2 on that - sorry

not sure what the specs needed for other games are but BF really needs 2gb of ram and nothing less than about a 2ghz AMD 64 processor.

Also the GFX card wouldn;t cut it on BF2

you will need to have around 800 for a decent games rig!

what you specced will not run BF2 so save up!

then upgrade.

I had a very similar spec, same graphics card except only 128mb, 512mb ram and a athlonXP 3000+. This ran BF2 fine with medium quality at 1024x768. The loading times were terrible though.

If you got 1GB ram this would speed it up a bit.
If you can I would also change the gfx card to a PowerColor ATI Radeon X800 GTO16 256MB GDDR3 TV-Out/DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-055-PC) : £69.95 (£82.19 Including VAT at 17.5%)

True, knock the settings down a bit and you should be fine, but yea, go for at least a gig of memory and a better gfx card and you'll be fine.

That's the best I could manage to come up with. You'd still need the mouse/keyboard & wireless card, which would bring it to around £500, but you'd get a much better graphics card, 1GB memory, faster CPU, bigger HDD, bigger monitor, and a godawful looking case!
