I've been trying to spec up a upgrade route to the Core2Duo range for a while now, i am only looking at mobo/cpu/ram at the moment as i will be using my Raptor/7950GX2/PSU from current system.

Im currently looking at the following:

Intel Core 2 DUO E4300
OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-6400
Abit AW9D-MAX Intel 975X

Im wanting the e4300 purely for how easy it is to overclock the chip, i know its not great otherwise. I would go for a e6600 but i cant afford it atm and away from Benchmarks would i really see that much improvements

Only thing im not 100% on is the mobo

Great RAM selection, the GeIL and OCZ is very cheap and is a bargain you should snap up. I would swap that board for the S3 or DS3, its cheaper and would guarentee a superb overclock with that CPU.

With the money saved you could then buy an after-market cooler to take your chip into the 3GHz without worrying about temperatures. I would suggest the one reviewed in my sig - Noctua NH-U12F!

Ive seen a lot of ppl suggest the S3/DS3, i've looked into them both a bit but they dont have dual nic's which i really could do with.

I have the AB9 Pro and that has Dual LAN ports, the Quad GT is an enhanced version of this board with firewire, crossfire, quad core support. If you don't need those features go for the AB9 Pro :)

Abit AB9 Quad GT - Features on that look very nice!!

Quad GT appears to have single LAN support :(
