Hi, I posted a spec me thread a few weeks ago but have sincce gone down the rabbit hole a little bit and have effectively upped my budget, so feels better to start a new

Please have a look below and suggest any changes. I would be very happy to spend less if this is overkill.

I know the processor has had so so reviews and tempted to go down to 7700x or 7900x but the little discount helped me put it in the basket.

Should i go for the XT rather than the XTX? is there enough benefit at 1440?

PC is everyday work PC just running MS Office but usually with a lot of apps open at the same time

Gaming at 1440 ultra wide (currently playing FC 6 and Hogwarts)

I tend to build (which I enjoy) but then run the same spec for a long time. 6 years on my current vega 64 build (which still runs well to be fair)

Anything you wouldd adjust, down in price preferably, but up a little is OK, preferably sticking to all AMD (but not firm) and I like the case and fans

THank you lovely people very much in advance!

I need to buy before month end so i'm in a hurry!

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £3,408.72 (includes delivery: £0.00)

Rationale for changes:
- CPU: Don't need 12 cores for MS Office and a few games.
- GPU: is white.
- HDD: bye.
- Case: cheaper.
- AIO: good enough.
- Fans: case has 3 already, plus these 3 and the AIO is plenty.

Thank you! (again)

To be honest I don't like that case very much. I want to build something a bit sexy as the corsair case I've got my current build in which my kids are going to have is nicer and I can't have that!

Point taken on the CPU, I thought that may be silly.

GPU I will have a proper look at. Do you think better performance than XT or XTX? The one I specced had aluminium which i thought would look ok in the white theme. Is the lower VRAM an issue with the nvidiia card?

Only reason I chucked an oldskool hdd in is to do local backup of my gdrive which is over 2 tb, may be i get some regular ssds instead

thank you

No. It is overpriced (white tax). The 4070 Ti version is more reasonable, though still not cheap.

:D I couldn't possibly comment. The "Is 10GB enough for a 3080?" thread has 350 pages (and counting). I watched a couple videos recently you might find interesting, 1, 2 (16:23, is about 8GB, but still kind of relevant).

I wouldn't call it silly, the X3D is a good CPU, but if you can't afford to wait for the 7800X3D then £590 is a lot of money when the 7700 is still very competitive. If you particularly like the kind of games that love 3D cache I guess I'd still consider paying it, but for me, £590 7900X3D or £339 7700, the 7700 wins.

I've always tried to get my builds as quiet as possible, so I generally avoid HDDs

Thing is re wating for the 7800x3d, i'd like to buy before the end of the tax year which is next few days for me.

I wonder if that xt or xtx with the aluminum is pretty enough. do you think it screws the white aesthetic?

4080 looks good but it is gauging a bit!

you could always reuse your current case and put your old build into a cheaper case
i know you are paying the white paint tax, but for a 3.5k budget, should have a 4090, really...

Dunno, but if I look at the pic of that case on OCUK, the graphics card is a big feature.
yea you're right. straight on i think it would look good, but from the side window which is what i would see most of the time i would be looking at black fans. you're right.

that looks good. I really resent paying so much for a graphics card but appreciate this is a better spec! I'd be light on storage but that can be sorted

I know the big white case is frivolous but i'm inclined to do it. Last build was very dark, prrior one to that white. I guess i'm in a cycle.

Well I think I am aboout settled. I've taken Tetras advise on the GPU (thanks for flagging the front side view of the aluminum card, that would have looked terrible in this case) and ignored your advice on CPU while taking Tamzzy's

I bought a ROG strix white PSU elsehwere, as to fit in this GPU the floor of the case will need to come out exposing the PSU (and it comes with nice white cables)

I also added more ram

Also got rid of the mechanical disk

Any final changes? (this is also missing 2 fans for the base of the case, which are not in stock at ocuk but I will get elsehwere)

So I cost you about £200 instead of saving it? Woohoo :D

Have you investigated how that's going to work out? :o

Wouldn't you be better off buying the 2TB SN770 I suggested (with better specs/endurance) instead of low-end sata drives?

No, i haven't investigated anything other than how pretty things are! Entirely reliant on you!

Is 64gb not going to run well in all four slots? happy to back it back down.

I had specced two of those drives. Have added another as looks like mobo can do 3 and removed the satas

Should i go down to 32gb ram?
