Im building this for a mate for gaming, He has some bits, Im not sure about the SSD's and the HDD, Im worried that the HDD will slow down the solid state drives which will be raided - any thoughts on whether this spec is OK..

edit - how do you embed images in posts - posting the link using the embed function doesn't work for me..

Click the Insert Image button and paste the url, hopefully that should work, just tried a secnd ago :)

I don't see why having a HDD would slow down the SSD RAID set-up, assuming you don't install the O/S on the HDD

He wont fit all his games on the ssd's so there will be a slowdown at some point..

Is it mainly for gaming then? I doubt he needs 12gb of ram if so tbh.

He wants to disable the page file on all drives - never done it before, so Im curious to see performance on a set up like this

I would suggest a couple of changes:

Have a look at these SSDs.

You will be wanting a PSU, I recommend this one (allows for crossfire in the future)

This motherboard is perfectly fine and full size.

Unless he is running photoshop with massive images or a bunch of VMs, 6GB RAM is plenty. I recommend this stuff, more than fast enough.

I would also suggest this HDD and this cooler instead.

If you need a DVD drive, this is my suggestion.

For the OS I would definitely go for Windows 7.

Everything else looks great.

If you RAID the SSDs then run the HDD separately everything will be fine.

6 gig will still be enough for disabling the page file, but be aware that some games actually require the page file to run, you can specify the location of the page file though and set it to the alternate HDD
Be going some to use up 128gig with games
Spec looks good but you are aware thats a mATX board in a pretty big case? Why not just get the p6t deluxe v2?

Thanks for the advice guys - will read up a bit on your suggestions and make some changes if needed..

As for m-atx, just love the rampage series but will look at the p6t
