Wondering if any of the "old timers" can glance over my spec and recommend any changes that will see an increase in performance for small amounts of money etc!

Yes i realise the conroe can be upped... but the hassle over supplies atm means i may just go for the 6300 until the rest are all out and reduced :D.

The Coolermaster doesn't have the best airflow so you might want to consider a different case particularly if you will be overclocking.

I'd change the Hiper for maybe a Tagan Easycon 530w as I think it is better quality and it will be more than capable of what you need.

Other than agreeing with BillytheImpaler about the Seagate being a good change the rest looks fine :)

How about a Lian-Li PC-60 PLUS Silver Aluminium Midi-Tower Case (No PSU) (CA-041-LL) for £69.00 (£81.08 Including VAT at 17.5%)

or an Akasa Eclipse 62 Aluminium Case (CA-005-AK) for £69.95 (£82.19 Including VAT at 17.5%)

The Akasa is the best cooling case there is.

Ok swapped out the hdd, the psu you recommended is out of stock. I dont like the look of the lian-li's even though they seem to be incredibly popular. I guess aluminium cases...you just have to see them. The akasa looks ok but comes with no case fans which means more expense :(. Any other case recommendations?

Cheers for the suggestions so far btw :)

Swapped out the cases... going purely on your recommendation :) ... i hope it looks nice.

also swapped out the x1900xt for this one... as its only £5 more and is quieter. Need to check if the werid cooling system affects performance...

Anything else guys :)?

Oh and do i need the aluminium bezels or do the silver drives look ok in the case.

Methinks it'll look a lot slicker if you do use the bezel. You might want to wait until a real case fanatic finds this thread for his ultimate recommendation on that subject. :)

Beyond that it all looks good to me. Do you really need to spend a fiver on a floppy drive? The cables just ugly up the insides of the case. how about ditching that and getting a USB one?

Who the hell needs a floppy drive in this day and age?

A modern motherboard will let you boot from just about anything. CDs, DVDs, HDDs even USB sticks!

In fact, the last time I flashed my BIOS it was from my USB stick.

In short, there is no reason for floppy drives*

*unless of course you have existing floppies with important data on...

Get the PC7, it has 2x120mm case fans and costs about £25 less than the inferior (cooling wise) PC60. Use the money you save to get a better PSU.

I would also get the Samsung DVD-RW that uses S-ata, just seems to be a better option for tidy cabling and future proofing. Plus it only costs a few quid more and got a good review (custom PC)
