Thanks for looking at this thread. I'm looking to order a new PC for Christmas, and I'm wondering if everything will be okay with this spec. I know the 5850 isn't in at the moment, but apparently some are coming next week which is good news.

Am I okay to order this and expect it to be sent once the 5850 comes in? Planning on ordering this weekend.

Also, will the 5850 be okay in the case?

Thank you in advance. :D

1.Change the HDD to the samsung spinpoint F3 1GB its better
2. You are going to need at least one but preferabely two good fans for the Megahalems
apart from that good luck :D

Alright, thank you! I've swapped out the hard drive for the Samsung Spinpoint F3.

Thanks for telling me about needing fans, overlooked it! Which fans would be best to use? Want to get a decent overclock out of this. Would it be better going for the Corsair H50? Thanks again.

or if you want to got with the corsair h50 it is about the the same the megahalems in respect of cooling!

Thanks!

I presume it's pretty easy to install those fans?

Also - this is becoming a bit of an expensive cooler. Would it be the best air cooler to go for at the moment, and also.. Would the corsair be better to get, for cheaper as well?

EDIT: just saw your second post! Okay, that's cool. I thought so. Would I need an extra fan for the radiator? Because as far as I know, the H50 comes with 1 fan, and would another be good to fit so it's push/pull? It would be fine in the Fortress too?

Many thanks.

i have the corsair h50 in a antec 300 case with one fan and the cooling is fine when i installed a extra fan it only dropped 2c so i just use one fan!

I'd change to a higher watt modular PDU if I were you, that one will be fine for that setup, but if you ever want to add another GPU I think it may start to struggle.

Also Trust me, get modular, I got that PSU and regret it now, cable management is a nightmare!

Okay, that has persuaded me enough to get a modular PSU. I'll try to get a bit higher watt too. Thanks Muel!

about the PSU if you decide to follow muel this one has good wattage and pricce and is modular
shame its out of stock http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=CA-032-OC

I was looking at that too, and it looks like a good deal. Only thing is the out of stock problem. Could I get any update on when it would be in stock? Or what is the best way to contact OcUK about it? Thanks Didaco :)

No trouble mate, I'd stick to Corsair though, I've rarely heard a bad thing against them, whilst I've heard a few stories about OCZ PSUs.

I can't find out what the draw is from a single 5850 though... Ideally I'd work out what watt PSU to get so that if I were to add a second 5850 in the future, the PSU will be able to handle it.

I think if it were me, I'd be tempted to go for an HX850W or an HX750W, depending on whether the 750 would power two 5850s with an i7 setup. (I think the i7s are actually quite low draw?).

Thanks for the help. I would stick with Corsair too, but I'm kind of having a bit of budget problems so I'm doing my best to keep the cost down.

I found this table on some site after googling:

Is that a lot? Would the 650W definitely struggle yeah? Cheers again!

Oh right that's wierd, I assumed it would be closer to the 300w that the 5970 needs..

So if you had two, the max the could draw would be about 350, leaving 300 for everything else, don't take my word for it, but I think that it might manage, but best to wait for someone with that setup to reply.

Great :D thanks for the help.

Anyone else got any advice with this build? The PSU in the Fortress is mounted at the bottom.. Do you think I'll need an extension cable to route the MB power cable behind the MB?

I'm looking into getting the megahalems with Akasa fan.

Is it really worth getting a second one, and do I then need to buy 2 sets of clips, one for each fan?
