I currently run the rig below with an enermax 460w PSU.

I was hoping to upgrade to:
Intel 805 Smithfield &
Asus P4P800 Mobo

Re-using my X850XTPE, Ballistix and PSU.

My PSU has only the older style connectors: 20pin ATX, P4 and no SATA's

Will this run the new board?

Assuming I'm able to get the new setup up to 4GHz, what speeds will I be able to run my RAM? It runs at either 245, 2.5, 2, 2, 5 or 260, 2.5, 3, 3, 6

mate for gods sake cancel the processor order and go with the e6600, you are wasting money for megahertz that a. wont make a huge difference in performance, and b can be matched with some easy overclocking (thei conroes overclock like nothing else.)

when you have saved 500 quid go to the local brothel and pay for a threesome with two stunning thai whores dont spendz it on an extra few hundred mhz lol

Yes you will be able to run your new CPU and motherboard on that PSU however you will need a 20-24pin adapter for the motherboard.
Thanks, good to know.

I haven't ordered anything yet and I appreciate that, but the idea is that I can upgrade for just over a ton by re using my Video, Ram and Psu. I assume I'll deffo need to replace them all if I fork out the extra £60 on a E6300?

I can't help but think you've missed the point. I enquired about a chip that costs £80 and you're recommending one that costs £250? I'd buy one if I could justify it but it's still a lot of money.

BTW, my wifes Indian and dirty as a minx  ;)

Sorry I obviously wasn't paying enough attention before and I don't know enough about Intels but you are trying to pair a socket 775 chip with a socket 478 motherboard. I rather assumed that you had checked this first :). If you are going to go for the 805 then you will have to upgrade the graphics card and the Ram as it needs DDR2(or at least I don't know if there are any motherboards for 775 that support DDR).

The PSU is still fine with an adapter so I can stand by that part of my post.

Yeah but I guess I'd be worried if he didn't want to have a pair of beautiful women at the same time, don't we all? Although Semi-pro, you're not hankering after a little lady-boy are you?

But seriously though, you spotted my error. I mean't P5P800. Which does support DDR1 and AGP with modern socket 775 (although, not Conroe of course)

Thanks, I appreciate the offer, not much, but you were thinking of me which was nice. I'll leave the lady-boys to you and HUGEKEBAB :p

Ah ok then, bit confusing with the motherboards all having such similar names. It all looks fine now as far as I am aware.
