Just finished putting together a spec on a system, can someone please check to make sure this is alright?

PC is going to be used for casual gaming but needs to run Need for speed, new Command & Conquer (number 3) at max LCD native resolution.

Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ 2GHz Socket AM2 L2 1MB 2 x 512KB retail Box
Motherboard: Asus M2N-E Socket AM2 NF570ULTRA Audio Lan USB2 2000FSB SATA ATX
RAM: Crucial 1GB 240-PIN DIMM UNBUFF DDR2 PC5300
HDD: Western Digital WD2500KS Caviar SE 250GB 7200RPM SATA2/300 16MB Cache - OEM
Graphics:Asus Nvidia 7600GT 256MB DDR3 TV out DVI PCI-E
Optical: LG GSA H12N Super-Multi DVD±RW Dual Layer DVD-RAM 18x/18x/12x Black - Bare Drive

Going with the Nvidia card as they are my preferred choice. Cost of system at the moment is £400 or there abouts...any improvements/modifications?

Any help much appreciated,

Tom

What is the size of your monitor and its native res??

7600GT will run the latest games with high graphic settings @ 1024*768 fine. It will cope with 1280*1024 too but you will have to turn down the settings.

Sorry, native res of monitor will be 1440 x 900...cheers :) The issue at the moment is whether to go for the 7600 or is the 7950gt worth it?

1440*900 is the widescreen variation of 1280*1024 so a 7900GS/1950pro ought to do it just fine so that's what I'll go for. 7950GT is kind of wasted on screen with that resolution.

Thanks Steve, great help...think I will go for either of the 2 you have just suggested as we were looking at those to.
