A photo (33% crop shown here) of a dog, strongly backlit, taken by a nikon d70 with f2.8 80-200mm lens.

No PS (apart from crop)

Check out the crazy fringing, never seen it before or since! Its there in the RAW file too... (duh)

Has anyone had it this bad? Why is it here and not in the several thousand other pictures I've shot with my D70... (a thousand plus with the 80-200mm)?

Its cool...good thing I did'nt really want the shot

I sometimes get bizarre colours like this when shooting into very bright light.

I think it's more to do with the optics than the camera... Or at least the purple stuff is... Dunno what the blue stuff is :s

Interesting, and yes I agree that it much more likely to be the optics than the camera. However, the Nikon 80-200 has some of the best optics of any lens ever made. I think it was probably unavoidable given the light direction. :)

The purple stuff at the bottom looks like CA, unavoidable due to the very bright light.

That blue stuff at the top looks almost certainly like a digital error. No idea what caused that considering its a .raw.
