Would appreciate any help/input with this.

She's got a quote from a local firm to build one (to be used as a general office, although high usage machine) as follows:

Memory
OCZ 1Gb Value PC5400 - 667MHz Timings: 5-5-5-15 - £31.91

TOTAL PRICE including VAT (& Build Services) £786.47.

Can anyone tell me how this compares to say a DELL Inspiron 531 Link

Again, any help or advice would be most appreciated.

Cheers.

Matt.

That seems well overpriced for what it is,if your mam just wants it for general office use then i`d go with the Dell and save some money.

(Thanks for quick reply) I think you're right. The DELL is only £500 incl. VAT (including monitor and double the RAM).

I wasn't sure about the comparisons between the two processors...?

Assuming she goes with the DELL can anyone tell me if its beneficial to upgrade the processor from AMD Athlon 64 x 2 Dual Core Processor 3600+ to:

4000+ (£15 more)
4400+ (£29 more)
5000+ (£58 more)
5600+ (£82 more).

Thanks.

Matt.
