So thanks to some advice I now have PRTG installed on my work computer which is now monitoring all the core systems and sends me emails if things are starting to go a bit wrong :)

The problem I have is my remote locations suffer from powercuts and poor internet connection. So the PRTG stuff is good as long as the site has internet and power as its installed locally. But if either of these fail then it cant send a email to me.

I would like to be alerted if the location is unreachable i.e powercut or internet connection has gone (this is a bigger issue then you may think) ideally I would like this done in the cloud rather then having to install on home PC and have running 24/7. Looking for cheep or possibly free as I only need to monitor 2 sites at present and would it be better to monitor pings for the server or router?

Edit normally if one site has lost internet then so will the other
