Hi All, Just wondering if this spec is any good?

AMD 64 3200+ Venice
2x512MB DDR2 PC5300
200GB HDD
Asrock AM2 Mobo
Geforce 7800GT 256MB DDR3
NEC 16x DVDRW-DL

Total : £387.69

Right so what I want to know:

1) Is this a good price? Or Can I do cheaper for this spec?
2) How good will this spec be in games like BF2, HL2, CSS Etc
3) What kind of settings would I be looking at if I try to play Oblivion with this spec?
4) Is there any better spec I could do for about £400?

The specification looks pretty decent, this might also be suitable if you want dual core, however it does cost a bit more.

Hmm looks good, However I have to ask

How does the P4 Dual Core 2.66Ghz Compare to the AMD 64 3200+?
What kind of clocking would I be able to do with both?
And finaly How does the 1800 compare to the 7800GT?

Also what would I be better off getting, A 7800GT, Or a 7600GT, Considering this pc will only be used 2 days a week

Those games would run fine on a 7600 GT tbh, you could get 1280 x 1024 Medium/High out of the card, Oblivion you'd have to lower settings and extras like HDR/AA/AF would be pushing it.

BF2 and Oblivion are two games that often suffer with only 1GB of RAM, particularly stuttering and general smoothness, perhaps go down to 7600 GT (could always upgrade when DX10 cards are established, it should do BF2/CSS fine, I'm assuming your thinking of using it as a LAN machine?) and up to 2GB of RAM.

I wouldn't bother with a dual core P4 for gaming use. Also are you sure those specs are correct cos the Venice core is socket 939, not AM2.

Forgot the Mention the monitor they will be on is a Viewsonic VA2012W With Default res of 1680-1050... Dunno If I will have to run at this res or not mind you, BF2 looks fine on it at 1400-1000 Or whatever the res was

Not as a LAN Machine, But I for the moment being am living in two places at once, So need two machines I tried building up my Old system

But for some reason It wont register IDE Hard drives, and the SATA conectors are odly missing, it says on the mobo SATA1 SATA2, but nothing to connect to. So After spending £60 to do it up, I found I still need to build/buy a new system!

And Finaly no im not sure there correct, but thats what it says:

Just to note with the above, I already have 1 set of 1gb Cosair PC3200, So I would be able to make 2gb by buying another 1gb set. And I also already own the PSU, Hard Drive and X800XL

Which spec do you think would be the best? Would the last spec play CSS, BF2 and Such?
