Hi all

Can you have a look at this and see if its ok please...

happy to hear any suggestions...Its mainly for downloading and watching HD films etc on a 37" LCD plus some gaming.

cheers

there is nothing wrong with the setup, but if you're only using it for downloading and watching films, then you may be specing yourself a little highly.
a E5200 would be easily enough for you. (£66)
£100+ for a 8800GT is too much. As you are planning to watch films on a big TV and I'm assuming you will be wanting to use HDMI, I would suggest a ATI card so you can have surround sound over HDMI. nVidia doesn't offer this.
Have a look at something like a HD4670. (£65+)
Get a bigger hard drive. I've got the one you picked out and it's great, but if you're downloading then I would look at 250GB+
I don't know about the K45, but can't see why it wouldn't be fine for what you are doing. Saves you some mor eand it looks better.

You can either walk away with the savings or spend a little more on the keyboard and get a diNovo mini. (£80) costs a lot, but lovely.

Thanks for the response...Really not fussed about surround sound as I prefere 2.1 I will also be getting the larger HD. I defo want a decent graphics card as I will be gaming...not heavy gaming but when I do play I want it to be ok on my TV! so is the 8800GT overpriced or just overspeced for what I need? and would the E5200 bottleneck it at all?

cheers for the great response

I still think a ATI graphic card would be good for you as I don't think nVidia supports any audio via HDMI. The 8800GT at £100 now is very definately over priced. I couldn't even get £100 for my 8800GTX. I would look at a HD4850 (around £115 but well well worth it). This is much better than the 8800GT.
The E5200 shouldn't bottle neck you really at all. Seems to be a very good chip and overclocks well.

This is what I have in my htpc http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-063-GW&groupid=595&catid=683&subcat=&name=Gainward GeForce 9600 GT 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/DVI/HDMI (PCI-Express) - Retail Which has a hdmi output.

It also depends on whether your TV is 1080p or an old 720p one?

If it's 720p (1360x768) you won't need anything to powerfull to run games on, My 9600GT runs most things with all the settings set to high and even a bit of AA and AF on at that resolution.

But as said by Tosk you're going to need a better psu if you want to put a half decent video card in that case.

Wow thanks for all the recommendations!! yes my TV is 720p and looking at a certain shuttle forum the 250w is a amazing psu and runs the 8800GT Perfectly fine a lot of people were using the GTS version but I dont want to be cutting the case up to accommodate a double width GPU. Will look at the ATIs instead now...
