Ok, what do you think ??

Just to answer a few questions.
It has to be a little future proof hence the DDR2 & DDR3 mobo.
It also has to be awesome at games hence the 3870x2.
Also I went for Crossfire as the SLi mobo's don't seem to be getting good comments and also they seem more expensive and there's less choice so that's why its an ATI card.
The PSU is 850w as it will probably be Crossfired up at some point within the next year.

If you plan to crossfire then i'd seriously consider an X38. I've used a P35 with 2x 2900XT's and the performance was crippled by the boards lower PCI-E slot running @ 4x.

Also, don't worry about DDR3. IMO it's not worth the outlay as you can get super fast DDR2 for nothing.

Put it this way, my 8gb of OCZ PC8000 cost about as much as a couple of gig of DDR3 at todays prices.

Apart from that it all looks ok. :)

i wouldnt worry about ddr2/3 compatibility mobo, just get a good ddr2 mobo, and as above some 6400 or better ram, preferably 4gb with better timings than those and you should be good to go.

I was thiking of an X38 actually.
But DDR3 WILL become the standard in the future no matter how loudly people protest and this PC has to last a good 2 years or so, so I think a DDR3 mobo is quite important ?

Yep, nahalem, etc, etc.

Afterall, DDR's been around for a bit and you can still get hold of it just fine.

I'd still just DDR2 it for money's sake (both mobo and ram cost wise).

IMO ram is fairly unimportant when you compare it to processor and GPU upgrades.

DDR3 isn't going become the minimum standard until nehalem comes out with it's socket change to be honest, so I wouldn't worry about it yet.
