id change the HDD for the sammy F1

PSU to a corsair or tagan or Be Quiet or enermax... (:D)

the E8600 IMO is not worth the money over the E8500, just an extra .5 on the multi.

i wouldnt bother with the sound card tbh
spend your money on a better cpu cooler for the overclocking ;)

agreed sound card isnt really needed and the Asus Xonar DX 7.1 PCI-Express Sound Card (Low Profile Compatible) - Retail are quite pricy you could save yourself a nice few quid there and put it to something else (or just save it)

Also id go with a modular PSU, ever since i got my modular PSU i have never wanted normal PSU EVER modualar makes cable management soooooo much easier :D

updated, how are the improvments?

Highest clocked CPU is never good buy now that Intel's CPUs are very good overclockers.
And agree about modular cables on PSU so I would change that to same design with top quality components/construction: Corsair HX/Seasonic M12.

That sound card doesn't have real hardware DSP but does everything on software/CPU, just like integrated ones, so especially for gaming there's no reason to buy that over Creative. (but Xtreme Audio is rebranded Audigy2, not real X-Fi)
With Core2 architechture expensive special memories don't help much outside synthetic benchmarks so there might be some loose money on that choise.

Don't bother with the Q9300. I would go with a Q6600, better for multitasking, and a small hit, or none at all, with games, compared with the dual cores. Go for a P5Q Pro instead, far cheaper, and should meet your requirements. Get a Tuniq Tower 120 cooler too. What size display do you have, as that might sway the 4850 vs 4870 choice...

well i am using games mainly but i do film encoding aswell a few times a week, the screen size is a 19" monitor but in the new year im going to get a 22" as i want this system to last me a few years :D

mate that soundcard is well worth the money
go for the p5q non pro if u aint going crossfire its the same board other than that and nast copper pipes

i mite crossfire in the new year, gfx will be cheaper and boost my settings when i go 22" on the monitor. as i want high end fps in games and i really wana get crysis, bin waitin ages to play it as my current rig would jus cry at the game and not even attempt to play it lol

£50 for a soundcard isn't really worth it. Unless you are an audiophile, drop it. There won't be enough difference for you to notice otherwise.

The 4850 is the card to go for, you won't need the power of the 4870 for a display of that size. Even though the 4870 is a faster card, you aren't going to find it lasting any longer than a 4850. Technology tends to go in small leaps, and then every now and again there is a large one. You will find a point where you will NEED to upgrade.

Cupra's advice is right if you need more PCI slots. Otherwise, they are the same board. So the P5Q might be the way to go, unless you want the other PCI-E slot...
