Having a hard time deciding whether I should go for P35 or X38. Do the P35 support Penryn just as well as the X38?
I know the Q9450 isn't out yet. But would it be reasonable to expect to plop it in to a Abit IP35 Pro, whack the FSB to 1600Mhz (RAM at 400MHz 1:1) for an overclock to 3.2Ghz?
P35's gonna be superseded soon by P45 (with PCI-E 2.0 support). Getting an X38 would hit a happy middle ground of chipset maturity, feature support and overclockability. Don't worry about X48 as it really offers nothing substantial (in terms of useful features) over X38.
Sounds good. What's the best regarded X38 motherboard? I'm finding it virtually impossible to compare them because the model names are all gibberish that tells you nothing
Have the Corsair HX PSUs got worse since the time everyone said that they were fantastic and a no-brainer?
(Just to add that when I was talking about overclocking in the previous post, I wouldn't be using the stock Intel HSF. Haven't decided on which aftermarket one I'd get, yet)
