Do you not think a single 980ti is enough for now? what resolution is your monitor?

CPU+board bundles - https://www.overclockers.co.uk/productlist.php?groupid=701&catid=6&subid=2858

Do you need 32Gb of RAM and have a suitable OS to address that much RAM?

As stulid said the PSU is massive overkill. 1kW is fine.

It all looks a little overspecced really. What are you friends uses? Has he got a budget and what requirements (aesthetics) does he need?

Would a 980ti be better (value/power) rhan 2 x 980s?

In fact, I bet the money saved on less ram, the SOC and the PSU and CPU would be enough to cover 2x 980TI for the same price.

Also, I went for the 5820K because I cant imagine you'll that much difference with a decent OC and it saves your £150 or so.

Thanks for the reply guys.. I guess I should have said what he planned using it for in the OP.

the reason for the OTT Psu is he is also planning a 3rd gfx card if he feels 2 is not giving him enough performance over 3 monitors.

He wants this pc for a mad driving sim. he's gonna be running 3 monitors, rez yet unknown as he's not made up his mind what monitors he will be buying yet.
