Hey guys,

Bit of a strange request, but are there any websites that all you to check the arrival history of a certain station for say the past week or even few days? Been having quite a few issues with trains coming in very very late in the last couple of weeks causing my staff to be late, and although i trust them and do understand the trains are crap at this time of year, if i can doulbe check exactly when they are late i can make sure they aren't telling porkies ;)

Cheers guys

Tom.

Surely they'll just have to catch an earlier train?. In by 8.50 or whatever, or you're fired ;P. You have the powah.

Doubt it very much, I doubt a train company is going to keep records, publicy available, to show how crap they are.

The thing is, if you put pressure on staff to get an earlier train, they may (depending on how much they value their job) just tell you to stick it and find something else.

If due to train delays you are arriving at work say 10-15mins late a few times, it's not as simple as simply getting a train 10-15mins earlier - it might have to be say 40mins earlier due to the timetabling. So instead of leaving their house at 07:30 in the morning, they might have to leave at 06:50.

If that happened to me, I'd be thinking hmmm, this is pretty inefficient, given that I'd be arriving 45-60mins early for work assuming my new train was on time. I might as well be working somewhere further afield earning more money. I wouldn't fancy setting off for work over 2hrs before my start time, meanwhile everyone else is just hopping in their car at 08:45 and then moaning about the traffic causing them to be a few mins late.

I am in your staff's position sometimes. I just stay a bit later at the end of the day to make up th lost time.

I think on the national rail website you can have a look at station arrivals and departures, might say their if they are delayed.... they update it quite often i think.

Or if you have vista there is a nice little addon that has the departures / arrivals of the station you set it as, useful if you use the train every day to check if its on time.

I completely agree with that. As an example my train is often late. Recently I got a really good job offer (close to 40% more than I earn now) but I value the flexibility of my employer and turned the offer down. If you look after your staff they will work harder for you, and when the shoe is on the other foot and you need someone to work over the holdays etc.. you'll find they are much more likely to offer
