I am working on a desktop which has 4x2TB and 2x1TB.
The motherboard is dead and I am moving the hard disks to another system.

The owner knows that the computer has RAID. That is literally all the information I could get from him about this.

So how would I go about moving hard disks from 1 machine to another without knowing what RAID setup is being used.

If they are RAID 1 it should be easy enough, I just find the matching data I guess.
What if its any other setup?

Is it software (Windows, Linux or OS X?) or hardware RAID?

If it's software Windows RAID 1, you can take both drives to a new system based on Windows and everything should be intact, not sure about others.

Does it have a dedicated onboard raid controller or an add-in type? make sure you label the drives in order to prevent them getting mixed up.

Could be a raid 1 mirror of the 2 x 1tb drives and either jbod on the 4 x 2tb or a raid 5 array I would summise.
