Checking if a phone is stolen?

My friend jsut bought a new razor v3 phone from a vender in the highstreet and wants to check if it is stolen so he can take it back. Is there a website for this where u can put in the imei number and see if it has been reported stolen???

Just tell him to ring his service provider they will do it free of charge.

It didnt have a sim card, we dont know what network it is on.

Am i the only one that this sounds dodgy too???

Firstly a vendor in the high street? Do you mean market stall?

Secondly so he can take it back - take it back if it's stolen? they wouldn't refund you if it was stolen, think about it if they are dodgy enough to be selling stolen phones they aren't likely to refund your money.

I donno if that was meant as a stab at me in some way?!? But I don't think it was nessasery altogether either way.

Market stall whatever, I'm not English so if I say the wrong phrase that is why.
