Checking the Mobo

Hi all,

My computer parts have all arrived today, so will start building my new PC later when i finish work.
Got a quick question that might save me a lot of hassle later. Basically is it advisable that I should test that the motherboard posts "error beeps" even before i plug any component in to see if the mobo is working properly? and importantly is this safe?

I wouldn't bother. I have always just plugged everything in and did a reasonably neat job of my wires and then booted up, should only take about an hour max, unless you have to take out old stuff (which I have done on a few builds).
