Cheep system for my dad, pls check before I buy

Hi,

Just about to order this for my dad. I bought him a 128gb M4 SSD and its crippled by his current system (old P4, SATA1, 1gb ram etc)

Wont be used for games, just after a nice snappy system for day to day use.

I know ideally the CPU would be an I5 but will this do, its a fair bit cheaper.

You wont get much gain from a SATA1 port, some people wont even use sata2.

Whats your budget?

just a quick check:

are your DVD drives and hard drives IDE or sata?
also, what make/model PSU does the old PC have?

there will be a massive gain going from SATA 1 to SATA 3 with that SSD

Yeah I know, but the OP didnt suggest a board so I thought he was going to still use it, and I'm saying SATA1 is rubbish.
