As a Chelsea fan and even just a football fan) I'm gutted Chelsea didn't have their bid accepted to transform the Battersea power station into their new stadium.

Even more so after seeing the design:

I think it would be fantastic to see that made a reality, it really would be a unique and iconic stadium. I think it looks brilliant

What do you all think about it?

Looks good - hopefully chelsea can do a deal with the malaysians who won the bid.

I think people are dreaming if they hope this to happen.

I know there are headahes in developing such cultural sites which arent allowed to be changed in part/whole, but with London the way it is currently - to give up your own project (even for the sake of more money) doesnt make sense to me

People don't think the Malaysians are going to give up their own project, but they haven't decided exactly what they want to do with the land (apart from build loads of flats obviously!) - and they could look for other partners to develop parts of the site. It is unlikely though.

the images look something really different, would certainly be iconic and retain a lot of the heritage according to that article, But do Chelsea really want to cap it at 60k? surely they should look to push beyond that I would really expect a team of chelseas position to be looking at least 70-75k that said it would still be 20k more than the current Stamford bridge holds multiply 20k by say 20-25 home games a season and the stadium would almost pay for itself over a 20-25 year period

Such a shame have you seen the highbury flats they look awsome.

Really come on london what else are you going to do with that stupid building? Wait till it rots than say it has to be pulled down no doubt.

I like the design - could see it becoming an iconic venue...and not just for football. Will be interesting to see what Chelsea do now. They really can't expand The Bridge and there really aren't any other suitable sites for development in that area, as far as I know.

What about Wembley Stadium as their ground? Not a million miles from Chelsea....already built....sits idle a lot of the time. Probably a silly idea but thought I would throw it out there :p

The site has been a massive embarrassment in London for years and every proposal always fall foul or is rejected or some other obstacle causes it to not happen - it's been a dump since I was a kid. Chelsea might have been out-bid but it wouldn't surprise me if the current forerunner fails as all the others have done before it.
