Chelsea Have Been Bought!!!!

does seem a very low figure to me, how much was Murdoch going to buy Man Utd for, around £695 million wasn't it?

wonder how much that makes Arsenal worth

though i don't think this will be good news for Chelsea, it said on the news "he looked into a few clubs and decided Chelsea would be the best investment" which to me suggests he has no love of the club and will be in it for the money, which means no expensive players, a few goodbyes before the season starts and squeezing every last penny. Or he could jsut want to do the billionaire thing and spend a tonne of moeny winning the Prem so he has something to brag about

Man utd were worth that much in the football boom period, also coz they were champions and had pretty good worldwide marketing.

Now to my knowledge they are worth about 320mill iirc, they were worth 1bill back in 2000.

Him buying 50.9% means chelsea are worth around £116mill. considering their hotel buisness i think thats about right.

I think he is gonna also wipe out all their debts and probably will put in money to make the team more sucess, thus making himself more money

Well it's true. Just had a look at CFC's official site & they are always the last to announce anything. If Sir Abramovich wants to pump wads of his Rubles in to try & buy the premiership, that's fine, plenty of other teams have tried that, not many achieve it though.
 
does seem this low period could bring in more firms to buy clubs, i'm sure it's a status thing (in America, a lot of their 'football' teams are owed by billionaires and such)

£320 still seems low, i'd expect Arsenal to be atleast £250 given their assets and London base and lower wage bill. What would people value them at?

naah we are far behind man utd, they are debt free and i cant remember the last time they didnt make good profit. Also have a huge fanbase(prolly abit dented now beckham has left) and are finanicially sound.

One of the reasons people wont buy us is coz we have to build our new stadium. Id expect us to be around 175mill MAX, probably lower, chelsea have a lot of assets as well, like hotels etc. I think chelsea are worth more than they have been sold for, bates was prolly keen on selling coz of the debt

oh ffs,i thought this sale was brilliant news cos i thought it might have meant the end of Ken Bates' involvement in football.
Mind you,one can always hope that this russian bloke is some sort of James Bond baddy type,and Ken fails him in some way ;)

dont think he sold it for that much, more like 59mill

also come to think of it arsenal arent worth 175mill, prolly about 100-125mill.

afaik c£75m of that £125m was debt,even so,buy for £1 and sell for £60m is still pretty good going :)

The reason no one will buy Arsenal, is cause they can't! There are Shares in Arsenal, but are extremely rare, with Fizman, and Dein holding most. When they come on the market, one share costs around £2000+

If you take into consideration the Assets of AFC they must be worth far more than CFC.
 
It is somewhat concerning...just imagine the possibilities, if Gallas doesn't sign he may wake up with Van Nistlerooys head in his bed :eek: :eek: :eek: :p

Unless the billionaire thing is a front & he is a bit cheap in which case it could be Heskey's :p
 
tbh i have no idea dude. I was just taking a guess. I dont know how much arsenal are worth thats coz we arent on the stock exchange like man utd. We dont know what other assets we have, unlike man utd who have to basically reveal everything
