Chelsea signed Shevchenko!!

Thanks for the rolling eyes, really not needed but hey.

Put money on it he made a lot more than the figure you have in your head. Real Madrid proved this once they signed him and admitted this themselves.
Im not debating that Beckham would have made more money over the course of 4-5 years, but only if he was consistenly playing and was still a "star" player. If he had been on the bench is brand value would have dropped significantly

So what was the exact fee then?
Im seeing such varyed reports.
I do know that its +/- £7m depending on if he gets a serious injury during the world cup. So that £24m could rise to £31m.

##EDIT##
Football Italia are reporting a £30m move.

Don't worry we're going to sign Bellamy  . But in all seriousness (is thats even a word  , looks wrong) im sure Rafa will pull something out of the bag. They signed Essien for £24m we signed Sissoko for £5.6m and who was the better player? Sissoko, let alone when you take into account the difference in price.

In Rafa we trust. ;)

You didn't say that at all. My point that was he had a tiff with Fergie and the club backed Fergie to sell him on when the more viable option would have been to keep him rather than sell him on. But what Fergie wants Fergie usually gets, can list a lot of players including some that have been mentioned already.

Dwight Yorke anyone? :p

:( :(

Well at least we will get to see some of his great quality more now... hopefully. Of all the teams i didn’t want him to go to was Chelsea as i wanted him to end his career at Milan but then stay in Italy. For some reason i just wont be able to look at him in the same way now, i wanted Sheva to end his career with a great team and not tarnished.

Money can buy you anything these days, another one sells his soul to Chelsea ;) This Chelsea team were suppose to be a breath of fresh air but with the resources they have available how on earth can you compete.

Lets hope he follows in the footsteps of other Serie a legends like Veron and Crespo or even his former striker buddy the Spurs legend Rebrov :D

How is keeping a player the manager doesn't want, is costing huge amounts of money on wages (ok he was making money through merchandising) with only 2 years on his contract a viable option. If they didnt sell him his brand value would have gone down as he would no longer be in the spot-light as much and he would then only have 1year on his contract and could have signed on a free in 6months time or even if he was sold with 1 year remaining it would have been for half as much

He said all along he wanted to stay at Man United...but I somehow doubt his brand value would have gone down. He has people that work for him to keep him in the spotlight of the media, however much he might say he hates the publicity he thrives off it. Don't think he was a top earner at United either (without image rights).

£24.5m according to the Ukranian FA
What makes one more correct than the other?
Sky are reporting that the UFA are saying one value over another. Doesnt make it correct does it?

I seriously doubt that its just £24m for Sheva. If it is, then they've got a bargain.

well i trust a football association more as a source than football italia who didn't even name their source and have probably got it wrong just like Sky Sports initially. Yes, I could be wrong though.

Thats the thing though.
The UFA havnt said that is has. SSN says that the UFA has.
So really, they are both reporting things that are as 'true' as one another.

As has been said, if it was 'just' £24m, then other clubs bar Chelsea would have been in for him.
I'd imagine that we'll find out the proper fee after the world cup tbh.

You're not getting it from the FA though are you? Someone is reporting that the FA have said it was that much :p

According to goal.com, who are usually quite reliable with fees:
http://www.goal.com/en/articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=62340
'Around £30m'.
Which would make my theory of £24m now, +£7m if he gets through the WC alright.

##EDIT##
I also notice that he's taken a wage cut to come to Chelsea!?
£110k according to reports.
He was on £120/130k i belive at Milan.

Either way. Good luck to him. I hope he wins stuff over here.

£24m for a 29 year old a bargain  . Ok he is up there as the one of the best strikers in the world atm, but will he be still considered this highly in 1 or 2 years time when players like Eto'o, Messi, Rooney and Crouch :D become more established. Look at Morientes, he went from being the top scorer in the CL to being a major flop in a year. Im sure (although we will have to wait and see) he will score plenty of goals next year but will he still be scoring 20-30+ in 2 years time? Because if he isnt then £24m seems very expensive to me for 2 years work, but hey it makes no difference to Chelsea so who cares

BoomAM what are your feelings about Sheva moving? Upset with him moving or do you understand his reasons?

Must say this transfer is very odd. As you can see with the links below he has constantly said he would say at Milan but then all of a sudden he decides for his childs sake England is the only option so he can learn English? Are there no English schools in Milan? Also seems like from the start there was only one club who would be aproached and suprised at how swifty the deal has been concluded.
