Hi Guys,

Someone has just paid me by cheque and has spelt my name 'Stephen', rather than 'Steven.

My mum reckons this isn't an issue.

I don't want to make the trip to town to pay it in if i'll get refused!

Do I contact the company and ask them to re-arrange the cheque, or will I be ok?

I've got a letter with my address and details on accompanying the cheque that I can take along with me.

There's loads of names with different spellings like claire, clare and clair etc. They must see this all the time.

I've got a pretty uncommon surname (Nikolic), and the bank are usually pretty good with accepting spelling errors. I think someone tried to spell my name Nicovich once, or something of the sort, and they still accepted it.

Yeah, the surname Duperouzel has some funny variations from various people. The DVLA are nortorious for mispelling it but I have paid cheques fine with some obvious mistakes in the past.

I transferred some money to my daughter in laws account and used wrong initial for first name. J instead of S. phoned her bank and mine, both said it was not a problem as long as sort code/account number are correct. It was not a problem and cleared within 2 days. :)
