Today I noticed in the local greengrocer that cherries were on offer so picked up 4 punnets of them for £5

Anybody have any decent recipes to use them with? Aside from eating them straight out of the punnet, I have no idea what to do with them, and I have a lot.

Cherry pie
Cherry cheesecake
Bakewell tart
White chocolate + cherry cookies
Duck breast + Cherry Jus

I don't have any recipes but it would be easy to alter most basic ones for cheesecake, cookies etc.

If you want to deviate from desserts duck goes quite nicely with cherries.

I've no recipes as I never buy duck nor cherries to cook for myself!

I bought some cherries at the weekend - Tesco were doing 1kg boxes for £5, so I grabbed one. They were lovely just eaten, but I put some together with some pears and made a gorgeous crumble :)

Thanks for all of your suggestions guys. So far I have made Cherry Ice Cream, Cherry Pie, Cherry and Apple Crumble and some Cherry sauce that we had with some vanilla ice cream. I've been eating a few when walking past them too.

I also stoned and halved some of them and popped them in the freezer for if I fancy them in the near future, and I've nearly used them all now.

No recipes, but if you ever get landed with a LOT of cherries I can highly recommend the OXO cherry stoner. It's got to be the best one you can get.

Is it a bit wierd that whenever I walk past the cherries in the supermarket, I will always recite the Monty Python self defence sketch under my breath starting at the point where John Cleese says "How about cherries?" and usually go as far as "Suppose he's got a pointed stick, **** AP!", as by then I would probably be nearer the bread, and as far as I know Monty Python never did any bread based sketches. :)
