Im after a Corsair k70 gaming keyboard (Lux RGB is tempting) but as I have never tried a mechanical keyboard before and there is literally no where locally to me where I can try them out I am really unsure of which Cherry switch to go for , Red , Brown or Blue.

I usually play FPS and RPG style games but never online I just want something that feels good with no lag.

Any thoughts from owners of these keyboards to which switch to go for?

Cheers

It's a shame you aren't closer to HQ, I literally last month bagged a load of keyboards off of suppliers of varying switch types so people can come in and try them out.
Personally I like reds and traditionally they are the most popular seller. However recently black and brown have both been catching up. I also really like the Rapidfire switches.

At the end of the day when you buy from us you have 2 weeks if you aren't happy to return it. Just try and not damage packaging or throw anything away otherwise we have to then sell it as B-Grade and lose money on the items.

Hope this helps :)

For FPS gaming if you are the kind of player sensitive to lag and play a more fluid reactive play style you will probably find red or blacks more to taste (reds being a bit more suited to general purpose than blacks) if you play a more deliberate style then brown or blue might be more your thing.

I have just bought the Corsair Strafe mechanical (not the RGB), which uses the new cherry "silent" keys.
They seem very good to me, better than the steelseries 6GV2 in my opinion which are very noisy in comparison.

My only small con is that I cannot see the sub marks clearly on the dual function keys, ? < >@ etc., but then my eyesight is not so good, so that will not bother most people.

The keys are quieter than with the O rings on, and my wife cannot hear them from where she sits in the living room. I almost bought the K95 when I got to OverClockers but the led issue put me off, plus they do not have the silent keys.
At the store they do have a fair few keyboards to try if you live near enough.
