Has anyone used them for meat?

I've been searching high and low for online places that sell chicken thigh fillets with skin on, and it is only one of 2 that I can find.

It's significantly cheaper than the other at £5/kg, but I just wanted to check if anyone here has used them and if their quality is ok?

Cheers

due diligence ..if cheshirefoods have not got the sense to write where their chicken comes from

we must assume easter europe like previous muscle food discussions.

JS £3.15/kg

edit - forgot to say i have bought them in aldi ... but they do not do home delivey - their free range is rspca assured ... none of this red tractor subterfuge

They're not far from me but I've not used them. Tbh they look incredibly generic.

It's really not hard to remove the bone from chicken thighs. I personally just do that and for most things even generic supermarket stuff is okay when it comes to chicken thigh.

edit: Of course in terms of animal welfare your mileage may vary and I'd recommend reading up properly.

Cheers, there's an Aldi 10 mins from new, I'll give em a visit :)

I buy skin-on, bone-in chicken thighs from my local butcher and bone them myself. Takes all of 5 seconds if you have a sharp knife. Pay something like 2.99 for 8, not sure if that's good but I find supermarket chicken shrinks 30% on cooking.

Erm, those look like bone-in, especially at that price.

As for deboning them, I am a combination of too lazy and lacking the requisite super-sharp knife.

Indeed, totes bone in.

You actually don't need a super sharp knife and it's quite quick once you know the technique (one circular cut, rollback the flesh, second cut - 30 seconds per thigh max). Can completely understand laziness though - I'm in the same boat about a lot of things.

:) yes has bones as you say - more flavour if you cook w/bone ?
maybe it is only imported thighs that don't have bone but keep skin, lighter, plus cheaper labour ?

The whole reason I wanted fillets is to recreates the delicious Nandos thigh fillets that we gorged on over the weeknd, I don't like bone-in chicken, I want to cut and eat without having to think. :p

Ended up getting 2kg from Great British Meat, as they specifically state that it is a single, easy to remove bone in each.

Thanks all

turner and George (at least used to, i assume they still are, havent been able to use them for a while) were fine with putting such requests in the order notes section as they cut and prepare everything for your order.
and on teh plus side when you asked for deboned, they still came with the bone so you could freeze them and eventually make stock, when you had enough.

not the cheapest as its very good meat.

If it's a single easy to remove bone surely it's just the same as when you buy bone in thigh fillets? :p

As someone who doesn't buy boned chicken, I was assuming their reference to a single bone isn't the norm (otherwise why mention it at all?) :p

Also, Great British Meat has, well, great British meat :D

If you buy a full leg you'll have more than one bone but a thigh is normally just the one which you can remove 'very easily'. Will be interested to see what they send you :)

there is the older diy nandos thread ....

It's really easy to make yourself in case anyone can be tempted away from GD and into La Cuisine :p

Takes 30 minutes to make enough of the sauce to last you ages.
