Chess club

@danlightbulb good game but unlucky with the post-castle pin.
@Chuk_Chuk, good game. I spent a good portion of the game trying to figure out how to take your knight and struggling.
That was hard. I miscalculated my attack on the queen side and then I was the back foot trying to defend your attack. It was all down hill from there.

My option were pretty poor and I felt like I had to give up my rook to stop you getting a queen.

I’ll fire off some game invites later today.

I'm a terrible player, but fond of playing yet seem to mainly do puzzles.

ELO of like 600, I think, in 10 minute games - puzzle score in excess of 19,000 at the moment!

Does anyone own a physical chess set? I'm tempted to ask for one from my secret santa which we do with family, budget of £100 - the Amazon ones seem a little lacklustre and cheap!

My son (11) recently got interested in Chess which rekindled a bit of interest for me. I've not played since a child - my dad and I played for a bit, then one day I beat him and we never played again. Go figure.
Anyway I bought Modern Chess Openings and just ordered a Chess-up for Christmas. Looking forward to building my game out during 2024 and maybe I'll do something towards the end of the year to get an official rating.

Happy to have a game with you. I usually play 1 or 3 day move games, but can do 10 min ones if you prefer

Want to play with me or anyone else posting here?

Takes me back - not played in many years... Peaked as Under 14's county champion.....  (30 odd years ago!)

signed up (booyaka76) if anyone wants to add - will take a while to get going again I suspect.
Christ, not sure I'm ready to play champions! (even from 30 years ago).
Anyway I'm up for a game with you. I'll send you an invite.

@meths
Ah, FFS! That is annoying. I thought I had finally got out of the net and was on route to winning. Turns out I missed a very important move from you. Really great game, I enjoyed that, well played.
I just did the end game analysis and saw that if I hadn't taken your castle and instead moved my castle to e3, that would (possibly) have led to me winning. Ah well, maybe next time!

Good game mate.

Have you checked the end of our game on the analysis from about when I moved my bishop out?

Took me while to realise what the engine was doing as there was a checkmate for you that I would never have seen coming in a million years, predicated on you hanging the bishop.

Yeah, according to the engine my last few moves before the mate were trash. :D

I was in two minds about whether to leave that rook there for a bit as I was going to bring it up to help shift the pawn defending your knight but I thought I would have ended up losing the queen if I'd pulled on that thread. According to the engine it was the way to go though.

Very finely balanced at that point and I was scared to move anything.

I believe I've spammed you with messages (as it doesn't show sent ones!), friend requested and challenged you all in one hit

I'm happy to play anyone else who fancies a game too - jonnyburnard is my Chess.com username.

Didn’t know you played Boo. I only play house chess and had a rating of about 1150 so we should have a game sometime!
