Hi.
Could do with a quick answer:
Im due in Chester Crown Court tomorrow for jury duty.

Im considering taking my laptop with me so i can both get some work done, and play a bit of FM.
Is that aloud?
And are there gonna be any power sockets in the waiting area?

Thanks in advance all. :).

How come?
Aparentely i can take music players and phones into the waiting area, just not the jurers room?

waiting area? how long are you likely to be there for anyway? =\
As little time as possible hopefully. :p.

Just re-read the guide they sent me:
While you may bring your mobile phone or laptop computer for use in the Jury Assembly Area, you are unlikely to be allowed to take them into the court or retiring room with you
Aparentely theres lockers i can use too to plonk it in. :p.

ive got to take pages 1 & 2 of the Jury summons ive been sent.

What jury summons and what page 2?

All ive got is a piece of paper saying that tomorrow is confirmed, a map, and a loss of earnings info page? And thats all ive been sent!

when i was called for jury duty no one said any thing about mp3 players and i had mine in the courtroom.

i soon got out of it though by telling a guy i was starting college the next day so he took my name out of the thing they pull random names out of so i wouldn't be selected.

You'd be allowed - I went there and did jury service last year. Just be quiet and turn the volume off - I played on a DS and stuff and no one bothered me.

You should have received a booklet containing lots of information when you were first called up.

What a complete waste of time today was.
I get tomorrow 'off' but have to ring tomorrow night about if im in the day after..

Good job i took my laptop. FM saved me from complete bordom.:p.

My jury duty was a real eye opener into how massively wasteful the justice system is. I spent a week sat in a room being paid and having food and drink provided, and never saw a case.

And the number of people pleading guilty at the last minute is infuriating.

Unfortunately I can't come up with a better alternative.
