With a new house purchase for us this year, I'm finally going to get myself a Chesterfield suite like I've always wanted. So I guess I'd just like to know if anyone knows where to source good ones.

Second hand reconditioned ones might be the most affordable and sometimes they look better with a bit of fade and wear on them.

Any input would be cool. Even if it's just a bit of appreciation of this style :D

Gumtree /local Facebook sales pages.

Chesterfield sofas are expensive new. We picked up our sofa for a quarter of the rrp and it was mint.

That's assuming you're not flush and can go to town on a nice new suite custom made. In that case, enjoy :p... Oh and yes that sofa style is great

Never thought of Gumtree. I've never used it before but here of people getting good deals on it. I'll have to check it out thanks.

No point in spending full price if something nearly new can be had cheap eh. They aren't the kind of sofa to soak in the sweat and stink of other owners like fabrics I suppose!

I got mine for £200 (Oxblood 3 seater) after a speculative bid on Ebay. New they are significantly more. I was really picky in finding mine, the Chesterfield effect can wear off the arms and backs which leaves them looking too bright and new, and the when the cushions get overly cracked they look really nasty. I looked for months - most on Ebay are (IMO) overpriced and in poor condition, or they are photographed so poorly that they look rubbish when they aren't.

This is it when it was delivered:

Reconditioned ones are well worth a look too.

I'm not sure of the make of mine but it's very sturdy and surprisingly lightweight.

Unfortunately within the space of a month my cat has managed to put some scratches in one of the arms, which is annoying because the sofa was borderline mint when it arrived. It's nothing major, it's from him launching off the arm of the sofa rather than using it as a scratch post - it's just enough for me to notice.

One thing to mention if you haven't tried one out is that the cushions are relatively shallow compared to most modern sofas which are very deep. I like it but my girlfriend likes to curl up on a sofa and a Chesterfield isn't really great for that sort of thing.

I condition mine with Gliptone Liquid Leather cleaner and conditioner which makes it feel and smell absolutely gorgeous.
