I've been listening to some of their stuff recently, and having never really heard of them, I have have to wonder why. I'm very impressed by what I've heard so far, they sound a little like Tool, actually quite a lot in places, which isn't a bad thing at all.

I strongly recommend checking out the album "Wonder Whats Next", superb stuff. I'm listening to their last album "This Type of Thinking Could Do Us In" at the moment and again it's pretty damn good IMO.

Have any of you heard of them? If so, do you rate them at all? If not, check them out, it won't hurt. :)

Yep ive got all their albums they have some decent songs like "the red , comfortable liar, send the pain below & bend the bracket "

decent band recommended :)

Chevelle's old stuff is pretty good. The new album is bland as anything.

As for the Tool comparison, no way in hell I'm afraid :p

That pretty much wraps it up for me too. I think Wonder What's Next is my favourite of theirs, An Evening With El Diablo is an cracking track, but their most recent stuff bored me to distraction.

They don't sound anything like Tool either, not sure where you got that from. They've been compared to Helmet quite a lot though, so check them out if this kinda thing floats your boat; they're one of my very favourite bands.

Reading up on several reviews including AMG say they do sound like a little like Tool at times, so I guess I'm not wrong.

Their last isn't as good as Wonder Whats Next but still good stuff.

Sorry to drag up a VERY old thread but didn't see the point in making a new one. I have been listening to Chevelle's latest effort "Vena Sera". On first listen I wasn't blown away although it was still very good. Having listened to it a few more times I have to say it's probably their best album by quite along way. No bad songs but the stand out tracks for me are:

Antisaint
Brainiac
Straight Jacket Fashion
The Fad
Humanoid
Paint The Seconds
I Get It

This is the best album I've heard (by anyone) in quite a long time. It puts Linkin Park's recent effort to shame.

Yeah it's a vast improvement on their previous album for sure, not listened much but will be getting to know it some more.

Linkin Park are a pop band, you can't really compare them to Chevelle. Perhaps if they tied Shinoda up and knocked all his teeth our they might be slightly less than awful, but I still doubt it somehow...

Yep chevelles new album is my favorite this year so far i've been let down by a fair few bands efforts this year :(

Absoultly love the new album though can't put my finger on why though but it's easily listenable i think my favorite songs off it are "straight jacket fashion, the fad, wonder whats next & saferwaters.

I've not heard a Chevelle album I didn't like. great to rock out to in the car! I believe it was Mr. Big Chris that introduced me to them.

I can't hear the similarities to Tool, I'm afraid.

Just giving it a listen now actually, track 10 - I Get It is an absolute beauty.

If you like these guys then check out a little known band called Handsome, ex members of Helmet (the kings of this kinda music) and Quicksand, who are also well worth checking out come to think of it.

Enjoy...

I might have to check them out.

I wasn't comparing Chevelle to Linkin Park directly, only that they have both released new albums this year.
