Whenever I start on a new piece of chewing gum, I always sneeze after the first few chomps. After the first few chomps I'm fine, but I find it really bizarre and my family+friends find it pretty funny :)

Does anyone else get this, or know what could cause it?

I do exactly the same thing if I crunch a polo mint, i guess it must be the mint. :)

EDIT: Beaten to it.

Peppermint, menthol, spearmint, anything minty, but only in chewing gum form. I don't get it with polos etc.

I'm just glad you others seem to get something similar. I was starting to think I was 'special' :D

But don't worry I do to :D
\o/ I officially have some kind of syndrome! Win!

In addition this sneeze reflex can be brought on by a sudden inhaling of cold air or a strong flavor such as a strong mint gum. This implies an overstimulation of any nerve close to the trigeminal nerve can cause the sneeze reflex.
The syndrom could be the cause of all of our woes, according to that
