Ok, I'm hoping to upgrade this summer, and when I do, I'm doing it from the ground up to create a cool PC, and most importantly, a quiet PC...

Story so far...

I've got a Chieftec BX-02 case, one of the older models, which has served me faithfully for many years. BUT, there is room for improvement.
Notably:
- Not enough space for routing cables - it's a mess in there
- I hate the fact that there's not enough depth to be able to easily get drives out in the cages, I'd much rather have side loading hard drive racks
- Not enough filtering - I keep meaning to make some filters out of tights or foam, but this is a dusty case, no two ways about it.

To illustrate the above points...

Currently using 4 Sharkoon 80mm fans with voltage controllers to drop the RPM right down, along with an Enermax Noisetaker supply, and the case is pretty quiet when running, just a background hum :).

So, what I was wondering about doing was buying the updated version, the LBX
+ has side loading hard drive rack
+ has increased depth
- but would need new fans (doesn't take 80mm)
- still needs filters making

I was wondering about opinions on the LBX case, and also other suggestions based on my criteria. I'll say now, I'm NOT looking to spend a lot of money on a case. £200 might buy me a beautiful case, but it's never going to happen. I've always liked Chieftec for their cost/quality balance, so I'll pay what I need to to get something decent, but I won't pay daft money for a case.

Cheers in advance for any replies

Hi mate

i have one Chieftech medi-tower LCX Mesh, from about one year

i like the case, big, strong 0.8mm cold rolled steel ( no vibrations/ ressonances at all)- it weigths 16 kgs:D

lots of space to work with your hands inside the case,if it was necessary, great ventilation ( the hdd bays have like a wind tunnel with 3x92mm fnas if necessary)- and one 120mm fan in the rear

also it was large enough to fit a cooler like the TT 120,without any problem and the biggest gfx you could find out there:)

there is not great space to hide the PSU cables, but with a modular PSU that is no problem tbh

and my sistem is very silent, but i have a fan controler in all the fans ,even in the TT120 wich i run always at 7V

also i have isolated the case all around with Be Quiet pc noise absorver kit:)
