I had to complete a self assessment for tax due to pipping over a salary threshold with regards to child benefit payments. I am now salary and not on OT so will be going nowhere near the threshold for a long time.

I received something some time ago ref tax self assessment for the following year alas I no longer need to do this. I assume I can't simply ignore the letter and have to now de-activate the whole self assessment thing? Does anyone know how to?

Thought I'd ask on here as I know there were many of us who were caught out by this. I did a quick google and found info on de-registering due to not being self-employed and becoming PAYE however the only reason I had to do the assessment is due to the child benefit threshold. I have always been PAYE.
