Child friendly PC games 2-3 year old

Is the right attitude to have.

Tech is so ingrained and central to our lives now, it's almost irresponsible to deprive your child access to it.

To the parents saying kids shouldn't be allowed access to laptops/internet/tablets etc. until they're 7/8 and when they were young all they did was play football; sorry, but the world is a different place to when you were young.

I'm sure going back a few years ago there were parents saying "little Timmy doesn't need to learn all that reading and writing malarkey, back in my day we spent 14 hours down t'pit" ;)

Of course that doesn't mean let them sit in front of the screen for 4 hours a day, everything needs to be in moderation.

Thanks for saving me writing that, totally agree :)

Depends on the interests. Milkshake have some good games on their site & Cbeebies is also a good suggestions along with Lego Games.

What about the Toy Story PC game? You can split screen KB & controller and follows the 3rd film, great little game and loads of fun!

Why?

Far too young as far as I am concerned, at that age it should be words, pictures and reading. ;)

Not some monolith of information for a 2-3 year old.

Just got my 7 year old a nexus 7 for xmas, keep tech to 5 years and above I say. ;)
Let them be babies, kids and pretend about stuff instead of shoving tech down there throat, playdoh, lego anything creative until they old enough to read.

That is what I said to my daughter, you become old enough to read you can have a computer/tablet etc.

Let kids be kids ! ;)

They not good at game at that age as in they dont understand the concept of a game.

Wii is good at that age just about though! Goodluck

I disagree wholeheartedly. As long as the child uses the PC or tablet with supervision and in moderation there is nothing wrong with it. My daughter was using a PC in school already from three years old anyway, and, as someone already mentioned in this thread, technology is hard to miss these days.

There are plenty of good, educational apps and games out there (many, free). We play on the CBeebies website together and it is scary how fast she has picked up mouse and keyboard usage. It has also helped greatly with her literacy. She has a very active lifestyle otherwise, with friends, playing outside, trips out, swimming and so on.

Lastly, my daughter understands precisely the concept of whatever she's using.

It's just as well that the extent of your concern isn't very far then!

Kids don't become old enough to read, they will learn if you begin teaching them.

People don't learn or understand things without being shown or taught typically, if you show a 3 year old video games, if course they won't instantly understand, but if you teach them what they are then off course they'll learn.

Well a simple game request has sparked quite the debate.

I might be coming in for advice shortly to help lock down the net and give him access to cebeebie website and other bits and prices.

Cheers all.

I assume this means you will turn him into a hardcore PC gamer (it better!).

of course!

Anyone want to buy a Wii ? :D

Just as an example it so happened this morning he didnt want his breakfast because he wanted to go on his laptop. It was 8am. I said to him it wont work anyway as you cant use it till 9am (he will have gone to his grandparents anyway by then) so he suddenly stopped his rant smiled and said I am hungry now I will have breakfast.
