Child proof locks - probably a daft question!

Work are looking into getting me a car, would be allowed to use it for personal journeys etc but just curious - by law are manufacturers now obliged to have child proof doors on the back doors on 5d cars?

No law AFAIK, but I can't remember the last time I saw a car without them.

you used to be able to turn it on n off with a little catch on the door lock

Even more fancy cars have the controls on the drivers door.
