Children not allowed squash in school !

plain water tastes crap and leaves me thirsty! so i understand why people don't like it.

send the kid to school with squash, tell school to stfu and be glad you're not the offspring of all the muppets on this forum.

Lol! So you wouldn't last very long if you lived a few hundred years ago?

Thirst = Your body signalling that it requires hydration (ie. water).

Hydrating yourself makes you more thirsty? lolwut

They may seem unreasonable to you, a 5% squash person, but certainly some parents will rock 50% squash, and they can't really control exactly how much squash is present, so a blanket ban is the only option.

Also, squashes can vary massively, so you might be using 5% of a Robinsons fruit based squash, but the people rocking 50% could be using tartrazine fueled sugar-juice. ;)

I don't know the reason behind the ban yet so cant comment yet . I can undertand fizzy drinks but squash I don't know yet.

There have been some crazy rules lately like they have banned peanuts but not contain traces of peanuts and yet they wont ban grapefruit as my daughter is allergic to it yet there is actually no student allergic to peanuts

Thanks for the concern but I am lucky enough to have children that would rather pick having a subway over a McDonalds .

lol, seriously

That statement right there clearly demonstrates that you wouldn't know a healthy meal/diet if one came up to you and slapped you in the face :p

Ironically it because of food ignorant parents like you that such extreme measures are having to be introduced into schools!!

Is the grapefruit allergy full on anaphylactic like peanut allergies usually are?

**** *** it was an example as a treat .

My kids would pick a salad over a chocolate bar most the time .

Do you have kids yourself ?

Not as such , It causes her medication not to work and then has life threatening knock on effects .

But its the fact no kids in school are allergic to peanuts

If she just comes in to contact with it, or does it need to be ingested in a relatively large dose?

It's just that peanut anaphylaxis can be triggered by a stupidly small amount, hence people being to neurotic about it.

So have you spoken to them yet?

This has been asked a few times now, no response.....

On the plus side this thread is going the way of most advice threads.

Poster asks for advice.
Poster gets advice he doesn't like.
Poster gets annoyed and defensive.

:D

I agree it is coming across like this, understand that everyone will have a very different way of parenting and bringing up children so there will never be a 'right' way, but you asked for advice, its been given in various ways, some siding with you, others not, maybe you need to ask to have this turned into a poll, but are you prepared for the results ?

I have said it and also stated that I have not as I am recovering from major brain surgery still and I'm trying to get the info I needed. No one has done this yet . Wish people would read the whole thing

I see no logic here so this is what I am trying to gather before I go in empty handed .

Here is an idea, hows about you stay at home and let the teachers get on with doing what they are paid and trained to do i.e educate your children!!

Going in and wasting their time and making a fuss about something so trivial as this is utterly pathetic.
If every parent went in making a fuss and complaining about ridiculous things like this it would be an utter nightmare for teachers and it would be very difficult to actually get any quality teaching done. (So ultimately it would be the children at the school who would suffer!!)

Don't get me wrong of course parents have every right to go in and complain/discuss about serious issues they might be experiencing, this however IS NOT a serious issue and I cannot believe you are even considering wasting their time moaning about it

Read above or are you that dumb you read what you want as I havent been in. Would you let your child go without ?

Just a little indigestion is enough :( I know all about allergies like peanuts as my mum has the same reactions to caffeine , potato , tomato , pasta , any berry and loads more.

How so? Compared to what?

Compared to say buying the ingredients fresh and preparing it yourself.

It's more apt to say it is no healthier than a Mcdonalds (or at least not by much).

Subway is a fast food restaurant and is no more healthy than any other fast food restaurant (not by any great margin anyway).
